Your DEFINING Godzilla moment

So it's been a while since I've posted any topics but seeing as these types of Topics seem to be very popular right now, why not throw my own little discussion topic into the mix. My question for all of you is what Godzilla's over 65-year history is THE defining moment/scene and why? To quickly explain, a defining moment isn't the same as your favorite moment (though they can be the same). It's a moment or scene YOU specifically would show someone who has never seen anything Godzilla-related before and say THIS is Godzilla.
Now I'm specifically talking about what defines Godzilla as a character and movie icon the best, but feel free to share your defining moment on any Godzilla-related topic like about a specific Kaiju/character, Era, time period or even the Kaiju genre as a whole! For me personally, it has to be the Atomic Death scene from Shin Godzilla (which is coincidentally also my favorite scene). Everything from the Music, the Visuals, the imagery, the symbolism and the fact that not only did they perfectly showcase how destructive Godzilla is, but also did it in a way that's it's both tragic and beautiful at the same time! It perfectly summarizes what I love about Godzilla and the genre as a whole.
I hope I've made my question clear enough but with that out of the way, let's discuss!

Oooo, that’s also a great one!!! That Airport entrance still gives me chills to this day. For me it’s that silence after Godzilla foot touches down which makes that moment feel so epic to me

1954 - Godzilla Comes Ashore. Barely disturbs the water, it’s kind of unsettling

i've officially left. thanks for the memories!

I ALWAYS FORGET THAT PART AND ITS LIKE ONE OF MY FAVORITES
same with the ending
i've officially left. thanks for the memories!

Him pulling the electrical wires down in the original. It's the first line in the Blue Oyster Cult song, which was one of my first introductions to the character, so seeing him do it in the movie was pretty iconic for me.

I LOVED THE BUILDUP OF THE AIRPORT SCENE FROM THE TSUNAMI TO EVERYONE GOING QUITE WHEN GODZILLA STEPS. THAT GUY UNDER THE PLANE WING WHEN WATER CAME WAS LIKE, “what the fu-“
That is one big pile of shit - Ian Malcom, 1993

You just made me notice the wires thing that song. I feel like the train scene is also Iconic

That scene has one of my favorite effects shot in the series when Godzilla uses his atomic breath to melt the towers.

DjdndnejwnwnMay 22, 2021
I like it too, I like how the metal turns bright before folding, kinda like how you’d expect.
expecting the worst, sets you up for thr worst
DjdndnejwnwnMay 22, 2021
This isn’t a godzilla moment, but that train with the muto being lit up is amazing
expecting the worst, sets you up for thr worst

SasquaDashMay 22, 2021
The towers were apparently made of painted wax and the film crew supposedly shined a heat lamp on it causing the effect of the metal turning white hot and melting.
DjdndnejwnwnMay 22, 2021
People talk about the early godzilla films spfx and compare them to monsterverse, but When I saw 1954 i didn’t expect it to look as amazing as it did

That really just shows why Practical effects are so important. Whilst CGI will always evolve over the years causing older stuff to look outdated easily, there's something about practical effects like suitmation which makes it timeless. Even after 65 years those effects still hold up!
Long live the king...

SasquaDashMay 22, 2021
Most of the effects in the 1954 film hold up incredibly well Today, the rest of the Showa series is sort of a mixed bag with some effects looking amazing and others not so much...*cough* *cough* 1962 Kong suit...
DjdndnejwnwnMay 22, 2021
the kong suit is flawless what are you talking about?!!

SasquaDashMay 22, 2021
1962 Kong has a lot of issues (not just his design)…
For example, he kind of has a drinking problem...

KattozillaMay 22, 2021
ack reminds me what happened like last weekend
it was...not good
that is all the information you're getting lol
yes he's flawless besides that
i've officially left. thanks for the memories!

i was talking about the design, and was being a word in my username

Godzilla’s epic 2014 roar in Chinatown
“Calling yourself a hero make you a self-mythologizing narcissistic autocrat!”

KattozillaMay 22, 2021
yes that is like my favorite scene
i've officially left. thanks for the memories!
DjdndnejwnwnMay 22, 2021
Wait I’m list mine,
-Godzilla Comes Ashore
-Godzilla’s Entrace in Terror Of Mechagodzilla
-Godzilla Underwater Beginning scene in GMK
-Godzilla Atomic Breath G 14
-Godzilla Comes Ashore in 4th form (Shin)
-Atomic Breath Shin
-Godzilla Earth Wakes Up, (whether or not you like the anime, this scene is awesome)
-Godzilla Terristrius First scene, Singular Point
I feel these scenes do godzilla the most justice.

DjdndnejwnwnMay 23, 2021
I like that scene too, but it doesn’t seem like it defines godzilla for me. I guess I can’t say much about my scene either though, It’s just Godzilla getting out of the water

KattozillaMay 23, 2021
just gojira rolling out of bed lol
i've officially left. thanks for the memories!

Jordan502May 24, 2021
I'd 100% go with when Godzilla defeats Orga, the victorious roar G does is just so beautiful. I even had it as a ringtone once.

KattozillaMay 24, 2021
but yeah, i really like Shin's Atomic Breath scene. mixed with the beautiful score, and the slow opening of his mouth before suddenly, BOOM
i've officially left. thanks for the memories!

sonictigerMay 24, 2021
This isn't really a defining moment, but I really thought the score in GVK was just ok. But fast forward the Hong Kong part of the score to 10:40 and listen till the end. Absolutely a masterpiece by Tom Holkenborg even though Bear Mcreary did ol' Goji better.
“Calling yourself a hero make you a self-mythologizing narcissistic autocrat!”
DjdndnejwnwnMay 24, 2021
Bear Mcreary Actually paid homage to the original themes and just remastered them. Tom Holkenberg just used the same types of chords but randomly not really seeming to care where it went
expecting the worst, sets you up for thr worst

G. H. (Gman)May 24, 2021
Holkenborg's a hack. He's just a sound engineer who got lucky and was promoted to composer who successfully wrote the worst score of the franchise. I'll take Riichiro Manabe's wonky, weird themes over anything "Junkie" has done. At least Manabe made some interesting sounds.
"'Nostalgic' does not equal 'good,' and 'standards' does not equal 'elitism.'" "Being offended is inevitable. Living offended is your choice."

sonictigerMay 24, 2021
Ok, admit that there were some high points you MonsterVerse hater. Mcreary succeeded at making an amazing score but never made a moving piece in the slightest. The end of Hong Kong's score was moving being reminiscent of Stranger Things and The Snyder Cut and accomplished it's goal of being the end of a conflict. It feels very similar to the end of G'14's score when Godzilla leaves to the ocean again.
“Calling yourself a hero make you a self-mythologizing narcissistic autocrat!”

sonictigerMay 24, 2021
And Back To The Ocean was a hauntingly beautiful piece in G'14's score.
“Calling yourself a hero make you a self-mythologizing narcissistic autocrat!”

G. H. (Gman)May 24, 2021
"Mcreary succeeded at making an amazing score but never made a moving piece in the slightest."
This is a contradictory comment, but given what seems to be your criteria for "moving piece":
Goodbye Old Friend
"'Nostalgic' does not equal 'good,' and 'standards' does not equal 'elitism.'" "Being offended is inevitable. Living offended is your choice."
