Akira Ifukube

Today, we commemorate the passing of legendary composer Akira Ifukube, who was deceased fourteen years ago at the age of 91 on the 8th of February 2006 in Tokyo, Japan. He is well known for contributing his masterful scores to several Godzilla films, including the iconic Godzilla / military march theme, which has been associated to the monster ever since the release of the first film in 1954. We’ll never forget you Ifukube!

P.S. I am aware that there is a time difference between America and Japan. So for all those who commemorated  his death yesterday, I apologize for not being able to get this out then.

"What’s so great about discovery? It’s a violent, penetrative act that scars what it explores. What you call discovery, I call the rape of the natural world."

— Dr. Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park (1993)
