To all those Halo Fans out there- Did Reach make a reference to the Godzilla franchise?

Halo: Reach, for those who don't know, eventually involves the transport of an AI named Cortana to a savegaurd Pelican (large, flying tansport ship) and a light cruiser called the Pillar of Autumn.

That being said, I just noticed something about Cortana's containment unit:

It looks strikingly similar to the oxygen destroyer.

Note that the guy holding the unit is a Spartan, a 7-foot tall super-human, but the point remains.

Could this be a coincidence, or something more?
