True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-07-2014 3:23 PMI've been thinking, instead of a game that is set in the prehistoric era for the Godzilla species (well, at least until someone can find a good way to send an email to the 2014 Godzilla creators) how about a story (similar in style to the "Raptor Red" novel by Robert Bakker)? Unlike Raptor Red, our story would be based on what we think the Godzilla species behaved and such (see the discussion here http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/35541 )
The beauty of it is that we can do it right now! To have a starting point for us {any "???" section is open for creative addition because I may not have an idea on what to add}...
Setting: Billions of years ago, when loads of Natural Nuclear Reactors (info on them here http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/ancient-nuclear-reactor/ ) were dominent on the super continent; they regularly released Nuclear Radiation. This was the era for the giant monsters (Godzillas, MUTOs, Shinomuras, and more)
Main Character(s):
1: Female Godzilla; Name--Kijura; (The star and focus of the story, we see her life for a year in this story. Even though the story starts with her as a "teenager"/pre-adult leaving the nest of her birth to set out on her own for the first time, we do get flash backs to her kid years.)
2: Male Godzilla/"Prince"; Name---Gojoro (met later in the story, Female is attracted to this male. He has a good/noble personallity).
3: Albino unusually big Male Muto; Name---White Rage (renamed from White Fury, too similar to Night Fury from "How to Train your Dragon" movie). {Because he was born an Albino, which is considered to be a risk considering their habitat requires a dark skin tone, White Rage was teased/picked-on/attacked frequently. As a result, White Rage fiercly defended himself, his unusually tall size greatly helped this. Now adays White Rage is the strongest and smartest of all the Male Mutos, and feared by the Mutos. White Rage was embaressed by Kijura when both were very young. He's wanted revenge for years against Kijura, thus the two are long time rivals).
4: Shinomura; Name---??? (???)
5: "Re-imagined Anguirus"; Name---??? (The reimagined Anguirus resembles an Armadillo Lizard/Porcupine with the spines being retractable/lay-down when not needed. He draws in air through vents on the side to help give a short sudden thrust to proppell him while in ball form and only in ball form. His family grew up near Kaijura's family back when both were kids. The two, to the surprise of both families, became best of friends and inseperable ever since their meeting with a young "White Rage").
6: "Climate Dragon" (Needs new species name); Name---??? {if it were in the modern world this thing would represent man's futile efforts to control nature by reducing its global temperatures. Resemblence: A long dragon serpent (the constricting kind) with great wings. It's armor is very light/weak in comparison to Godzilla or Mutos. However, it's faster in flight because it's so light, pluse it has an "Cold Field" that it can emit around itself (uses Nuclear Radiation to activate/keep going.}
7: **MINOR CHARACTER/SPECIES: "Re-Imagined Zilla"; {Think of them as practicle jokers. To most Kaijus they're harmless (and the smallest), despite looking like a Crocodile/Iguana/Basilisk Lizard mix. Their "pranks" are usually the good kind that all can get a laugh from. In fact, their social life encourages this, females are attracted to males who can pull off a good joke and not one that only the joker is laughing. }

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 9:51 AMI didn't know you read "Raptor Red", great to know :) I didn't care for all the "Darwinian" references, but otherwise enjoyed it (and wished it was a movie).
I agree with you, how we have it set should be fine... I guess it was uncertainty speaking or something.
Now all we need to do is figure out Kijura's story (and who she meets when in the story) and what would the terrain look like back then?

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 9:59 AMI did like that book. I have to agree O didn't the Darwinian references, but it was a pretty good book.
Do you think we should PM each other about the story, so we don't spoil it for others who are looking at this topic?

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 10:13 AMHmm, that's a good question about "spoiling the story" bit. I will have to give that some thought. One the one hand, it would allow others in the forum to help us. However, that means they would know the story and thus wouldn't be surprised, but would be ready to post the complete story somewhere.
For now, we can focus on a last question that I'm still wrestling with... what would the landscape look like (during the Godzilla species era)? I know it would be a supercontinent complete with natural nuclear reactors, that's easy. Would things like trees and grasses be around back then? Considering the size of the kaiju, where would they get "shade"? We don't have fossil evidence of mega trees (I didn't think), then again this was so long ago any evidence could (theoretically) have been destroyed over the ages.
You can see my problem. For Raptor Red, we have fossil evidence of the plant life and theorized the landscape shape for that time period. We would need something similar for the Godzilla era.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 10:17 AMThat is a good point. I will have to think about that.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 11:16 AMYeah, it didn't. I don't know how to do it yet, but wanted to start somewhere. While pondering on the botanical and geographical setting for the Godzilla Era, I couldn't help but think "If we could have a "Spoiler" button to hide the story, then we could have it here. Anyone wishing to help would simply click the Spoiler and read what we had."

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 1:27 PMWow, those are great images of the Shinomura! Seeing how big just one of them is, I don't think our Shincara character needs to be a "Super" version, maybe the most dangerous Shinomura of the day (remember this story is before the 'King of the Monsters' was born).
How about, for the story, say every third of the story she goes through some kind of struggle, Shincara was the 'villian' in the 1st third. Our Calmicus be the 2nd third, and for the big finally (which ties back at the beginning) the final face off of Kijura's biggest and deadliest rival... White Rage!
Even though we still have geography and story direction to figure out, things are going very well. I couldn't have achieved even this much without you pal (and I've been trying to find pics of Shinomura, so you're talented still).

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 1:43 PMI like the idea of third of the story that there is a fight scene. You're rightm we really have gotten a lot done for this story and we couldn't have gotten this much done without each other. If you want to find picture of Shinomura or even Muto, just search it on Google. That's what I do.
How are we going to post this. Will we post the entire story in one topic, or will we post a chapter a day? If we do post a chapter a day we should have the entire story first. I tried to post a chapter a day of my story, The one left behind: The story of Gojira2K, which is really hard because I only got a chapter and that was a month ago.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 2:48 PMHmm, well how about this... We work on the story at this topic. Any chapter we complete we will add to a new topic (with the story's title) say "The Age of the Godzillas" (unless you can think of a better one). We couldn't promise a Chapter a day, but we could offer (to any interested) that if they liked the chapter they could help us with the others.

MemberGiganJun-09-2014 3:27 PMI have a few characters:
Female MUTO: Name- Commander (Unusually large MUTO. The largest and most respected [and feared] MUTO around. Later in the story, her and White Rage form a nest, along with an army of MUTOs. However, her, White Rage, and three other MUTOs team up with the Godzillas to stop Darkness and his band of MUTOs.)
Male Godzilla: Name- Scar (An old, battle-scarred Godzilla. Starts off as a minor antagonist, but during a final confrontation with the MUTOs, helps win.)
Male Ghidorah: Name- Darkness (A black and charcoal Ghidorah with bright red horns, eyes, wings, and ends of tails. His lightning breath glows neon red. He's the true villian of the story, and uses some of the MUTOs to attempt to wipe out the Godzillas.)
New Species: Name- The Raptors (A race of winged, monitor lizard-like creatured with small tusks, clubbed tails, and sharp scales. Sole purpose in story is to prey on the "re-imagined Zillas" and follow the main characters for scraps of food.)

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 4:55 PM@SCI-FI KING25: Interesting characters you've introduced. I will try to respond to so many of these interesting characters as best as I can. Let's see...
1a: I like the concept of a female counterpart for White Rage. I've been pondering on that aspect myself just a few minutes ago. Maybe have her, and another unnamed female, be responsible for the 2 different Muto sacs seen by humans in 1999. I looked up the word "Commander" to see what it would be in Japanese, and it's Shirei-kan. How about that as her name. As far as her story, I was thinking the two would still meet... making White Rage actually happy for once and willing to let go his need for revenge. That is... until she's killed, to save a friend, by Kijura which sets White Rage "off the deep end"/rabid/unwilling to stop for anything until Kijura is dead.
2: "Scar", I had also been pondering on another male Godzilla character. I was thinking of another male to be the "rival" battling Gojoro to see who would win the right to court Kijura. In physical combat, he's just as good as the Final Wars Gojira. Scar will still overall look like the 2014 Godzilla design, but say had some minor birth defects; green skin, weaker armor, uses nuke radiation to heal itself, can use 90% of its complete reserves to fire a "Nuclear Bomb" blast (sort of a USA-vs-JAP godzilla fight). In my current storyline thinking, for this male, was that after his defeat by Gojoro he leaves to a stream to ponder on how he failed. A few days later of 'soul searching'/pondering he's then ambushed and later killed by some Mutos (including White Rage and his mate).
3/1b: My thinking for the (formerly named) Climate Dragon was that it's a "re-imagined" Ghidorah. Many reptiles have, at best, two heads so our serpentine dragon would be the same. The classic Ghidorah was cast as an archrival to the Japanese Gojira. To me, instead of lightning, cold should really be the "rival" choice of weaponry to help cancel out the effectivness of the Atomic Breath. When I read the movie novelization and was first exposed to what the Mutos could do, I was greatly impressed and had really underestimated them (from their toy pics). The Muto species seem to be a better "anti-Godzilla" monster, for they had killed a Godzilla for the sacs to be in a Godzilla skeleton! To not copy that fight, yet still have the Muto as the top villian, I created White Rage. Thank's to his abnormal size and fierocity, he feels that he can take on a Godzilla single-handedly. This clash, White Rage-vs-Kijura, is secretly viewed by a Female Muto before "cucooning herself". She sees the fight and thinks that "Maybe two can do better to down a Godzilla" to forshadow the clash in the modern world.
4: I hadn't thought of a species of Kaiju that soley went after the "re-imagined Zillas". I always pictured these Zillas were preyed upon by Mutos; Shinomuras; and other larger Kaijus (well, at least for the kids/youngsters).

MemberTitanosaurusJun-09-2014 5:20 PMWell, this is quite the strange bit of Godzilla storytelling! I don't quite know what to make of it, since I usually don't have my giant monsters talking unless they're supposed fully sentient beings, like planet seeders.

True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 5:39 PMUsually the giant monster movies are from the human perspective. This story is inspired from "Raptor Red" where we see things from a Utahraptor's Perspective.
This story was supposed to be the same style, except set in the prehistoric past during the "Godzilla Species" era. I am still worried that the characters/monsters are a bit too smart to be accurate. What do you think?

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-09-2014 6:09 PMI'v opened an intelligence topic on the 2014 Godzillas and Mutos here http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/35612 Just my opinion, our story has gone far beyond what the Mutos (and probably the Shinomuras) what their intelligence level would allow. I think, if we were to do a story, it would need an overhaul. For now, let's pause on the story and debate on the intelligence level of the monsters.
I wish to thank everyone involved in helping to generate ideas! Don't let this one story pause get you down. If anything it's opened our mind to new creative thoughts and ideas, thanks to the feedback generated. I wish you all luck on your own creative Godzilla idea endevers
