Gojira 2014

Ok so I waited for everyone to see the film just so I don't spoil anything for you guys. I saw godzilla 3 times. The first was the early screening, second was in the movie theater in 3d, the third was in 2d. So what I say here I have a pretty good excuse since ive seen it enough times.

First off...I had no problems with the movie. Everybody keeps complaining about how there wasn't enough godzilla, even though the last fight scene was 100% worth the wait for me. There was an airport scene were godzilla and the male muto were going to fight but it cut right off. Which I'm fine with cause they fight later anyway. Remember its not about the monsters, the fight scenes, its about the humans, the focus is on the human drama. I remember my mom said " why can't godzilla be in a movie without humans?" When I heard her say that I just laughed at her. Godzilla is USELESS without the humans. There is no point of having him without the humans. The humans need godzilla and godzilla needs us. The fights were awsome, the story was decent, and I really enjoyed the movie.

Counting from what ive seen.....I give this movie a  A-

Its good to be king isn't it gojira?

Good review my friend and I agree.  I thought the movie was very well done and when the fighting came, it was worth it.  I thought the human element was both touching and dramatic and was very well done with well casted actors.  In the end, yes, we needed Godzilla and Godzilla showed the humans that they aren't as "Top of the Food Chain" as they thought.  Well done!

GOJIRA 2014 - I'm exceptionally happy that you enjoyed the film! After having watched it three times, I'm certain you've formed a solid opinion of it. Indeed, the film is a marvelous bit of cinematography - I very much enjoyed the build-up to each subsequent scene. Never once did I feel bored, let down or frustrated. Godzilla was present throughout the film - in both ominous presence and mind-blowing actuality! A fantastic film! :)

Is it possible this movie was intended to be alot longer? I mean no sinkholes, no Admiral Stenz pep talk before the halo jump. No footage of the wrecked train with bodies strewn about. I mean it's obvious the studios want the movie to run as many times as possible so they always prefer a 90-120 cut. I do believe we will get a better "Director's Cut" whenever the blu-ray comes out. One with all of the edits reincorporated. This movie seemed a bit streamlined in certain areas. But having said all of that I'm still liking it a great deal.

The reason why godzilla probably didn't have as much fight scenes and the scenes were edited so much is because everybody kept on leaking stuff. Back then I was fine with it but now that I look back I kinda regret people leaking stuff. Would had more monster scenes if we didn't go FBI on legendary and warners bros. Still very enjoyable movie. Sat in the theater 3 times and still walked out happy  :)

the only TRUE complaint i have about the film is that godzilla barely destroyed anything

Gee Gojira, I agree with your premise, and that's why for me the movie was very good but not great.  Bryan Cranston was amazing...and they killed him.  Ken Watanabe was underused, Sally Hawkins too.  I mean, they had Juliette Binoche!  For five minutes...

Johnson was...okay.  I'm not going to trash his acting performance...but there was nothing special about him, his performance, or his character.  I challenge you to tell me something that was... not bad, but no way great...nothing he did or said will go down as particularly memorable except for blwing up the nest and grabbing the sliding kid on the lightrail. Those were decent action scenes and showed some character...wanted more, a lot more.

The monsters were pretty great though, and that IS mostly what it is about...

The one thing I liked about the story (is also an excuse or bryan Cryanstons death) is that ok ford lost his mother, then he lost his father, and the only family he has left is his wife and son so if he doesn't get rid of the muto's and disable the nuke he'll loose everything. I also liked how godzilla seemed like a hero even though he was only there to hunt the mutos and it happened to benifet the humans.
