MemberMothra LarvaeMay-11-2014 1:53 AMOk so we just recently got more Jap Fanboy comments about the film.
They say that this godzilla design is to this and that, atleast they didnt call him fat again, and he attacks america instead of japan.
come on who cares where he attacks as long as the character himself is in character thats all it matters.
Im actually really excited that he is gonna be attacking america, because how many time has he been in japan? over 15 freakin times by now it be neat if he actually attacks somewhere new.
I wouldnt be complaining if I see King Kong in Japan instead of New York lol.
Heres the article.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-11-2014 2:12 AMI don't see why this couldn't have been included in one of the pre-existing threads on the topic...but addressing that article specifically....
I actually think it's MORE valid than the other complaints. The 'fat' complaints (though few and overblown) always seemed a little hypocritical to me, in that Godzilla was equally 'fat' in the 90's.
However, these guys aren't talking about his size, they mostly seem to be talking about being nervous that the American film will lack the substance and symbolism Godzilla is supposed to have.
This is a COMPLETELY legitimate concern considering what we did with Godzilla 1998. That, and these reactions seem to be responses from the trailers that they've seen. And let's face it, the trailers don't have a lot of the metaphor or mythology they are probably looking for.
I know in the INTERVIEWS that Gareth Edwards & co. have talked about the 'man vs nature' thing. But A: It still probably won't be as overt as it was in the older movies and B: The people making these comments may have not seen those interviews at all. Without those interviews, the other marketing materials barely touch up on the allegory of Godzilla.
So yeah, I dunno....I'm pumped for this movie. But if I was a long-time Japanese fan....hell yeah I'd be nervous that this movie might be too hallow, or just shallow American spectacle, and I can see where they are coming from. I mean, I think they're wrong. But there is no way for them (or us really) to know that until we see the movie.

AdminGodzillaMay-11-2014 2:22 AMI'm inclined to agree with Madison. At this point the media coverage is just baiting western fans to attack Japanese fans-- And unfortunately it's working. A lot of people are falling for it, especially on these forums. If it's necessary to complain about a vocal minority keep it to a single thread:

Thanks.
