MemberMothra LarvaeApr-25-2014 3:03 AMI've actually thought about this quite a bit and I believe that the biggest loss of life and damage to the environment will be due to humanity's desperation to end these creatures! Nuclear bombs being dropped in a last ditch effort onto heavily populated areas or something of the like. There just my thoughts and speculation!

No, it is highly unlikely they would try to use nuclear bombs against the kaijus considering that nearly 50 of them were used against Godzilla during the Pacific Proving Grounds to no vail. You can read more about it here: The Marshall War
The death toll would be immense if cities population are not evacuated in time while these monsters hit cities across the world. One thing's almost certain, hundreds of thousands of lives will die in this Godzilla movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-25-2014 4:15 AMYa, I know it's just do you truly believe that humanity has learned it's lesson? I'm sure there would be some high ranking individuals who still think a nuclear bomb could decimate these animals! And we haven't seen it yet so we don't know and as I said it was only speculation!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-25-2014 6:52 AMI don't think humanity will be on the edge of extinction but I do think the world as we know it will end when the dust and ash settles. Humans would be forced into a new way of life, forever living in fear of the return of giant creatures. The chaos that unravels in this film is likely the introduction to something far worse. Governments will no doubt envy Godzilla's power and try to overcome him through science or other means. Perhaps this will eventually lead to the earliest foundations of a G-Force like corporation, or perhaps not. Either way humans will need to be ready for a future encounter with the Kaiju and whatever choices thay make in preperation for whats to come will ultimately translate into what or who remains standing in the end. And as for the death toll - I'm sure they've lost count.
Good talk SOMETHING REAL :]

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-25-2014 9:54 AMLove the topic SOMETHING REAL. If I had my way, virtually nothing would be left other than maybe Jessica Alba and myself. But realistically, to KAGE432's point, I think what's even more interesting is what changes to the environment will humanity have to endure in the aftermath of this fight. Between the radiation of Godzilla's breath and the MUTOs seem to have some sort of effect on electricity or the atmosphere. Hard to tell. They have done a great job keep the plot safe.
As far as death toll. I can see a million or so. Godzilla is going to show up in SF with a whole lot of people not being evacuated. If he uses his breath in the city then that could easily wipe out huge numbers from the aftermath alone. To earlier topics, there is some connection to nature these monsters have so the entire world could get a makeover. If this were only to happen for real!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-25-2014 10:18 AMThe number of deaths will be unfathomable. The destruction will be nearing an apocalyptic level.
I have no idea really. Just musing.

MemberBaragonApr-26-2014 7:53 AMwell if you ask me at the end of the movie or at least close to it when we see the halo jumpers jump out of the plane all the smoke is coming from the city which to me very well could be the sea of fire that godzilla has done to the city while fighting the muto monster using his atomic breath attack, also the destruction is going to be catastrophic this movie is going to be insane from beginning to end. :)
