MemberMothra LarvaeApr-14-2014 9:37 PMOk so I was recently looking up the film on the IMDB for the 4895758578 time and I saw a actor name ANDY SERKINS as Godzilla, pretty interesting for me because he's the same guy who did the sounds for KING KONG in the 2005 film.
So from King Kong to Godzilla, idk about you but thats pretty mind blowing to me.
do you like the fact that a person is doing Godzillas roar instead of Istruments being used?
I find it super interesting.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-14-2014 9:40 PMI like the fact that it's not true and he's not doing the roar. He did the mo-cap, that's why he's credited as Godzilla. Let's not inform the forums with false info, we all know how THAT turned out that "last time".

MemberBaragonApr-14-2014 10:08 PMAs junkerde stated, Andy Serkis did the motion capture for Godzilla. This was also used for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. They just CGI'd over him. It's actually quite cool how they do it. Better than wearing a rubber suit.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-15-2014 12:15 AMAndy Serkis is also responsible for the great "Cesar" in the two modern movies of the “Planet of the Apes”.
He has earned a reputation among the science fiction fans, possibly reaching the level of great modern legends like Stan Winston.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-15-2014 4:59 AMIts all a big misunderstanding. You see, Serkis was a consultant on Godzilla, he did NOT do his sounds OR mo-cap.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-15-2014 5:00 AM@TaRellZilla I know right, that would be hilarious!

He really is. I anxiously await the day when his abilities as an actor, as well as a mo-cap performer, are FINALLY recognized by those goobers at the Academy Awards and the like. He deserves recognition.
That said, his hands on work may not apear in this film. He was consulted, but its still unclear as to whether or not we will see Serkis performing as Godzilla in the film. I have no idea how voice acting came into the conversation. :P Serkis provided the vocal performances for most of his creations, but all of them are humaniod to some extent. The roar has been stated to have been created by analyzing the original roar sound files given to Legendary by Toho, and recreating it with digital technology for Dolby surround sound systems. Just how they did it I don't know, but chances are no human voice was involved. It sounds way too artificial.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-15-2014 9:45 AMThe news that Andy Serkis was only a consultant is a bit depressing. He's such an incredible Mo-cap actor. I do hope the actor (if there was one) is just as good as he is.
As for Godzilla's roar, Danzilla93 said pretty much all the information we currently have.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-15-2014 12:03 PMUh, guys, he DID do motion capture.
"According to director Edwards, Andy Serkis did motion capture sequences to "control the souls" of the creatures."
