GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeApr 10, 20142435 Views16 Repliesby now im sure most of you have seen the picture of godzilla attacking the golden gate bridge. for the most part, san franscisco bay is not very deep, but under the golden gate bridge, its closer to 360 feet! if godzilla is only 350 feet he should be under water, and yet hes at least at the 200 foot mark of the golden gate bridge! also theres that scene with the planes and his foot. anywho, what do you think, have we all been fooled?

the Golden Gate Bridge is 746 and the elevation is 220 so Godzilla does not really reach the top he is about half the size of TGB

@Godzilla 2014 rules
i meant 200 out of the water, and if you look at the picture he is definetly not half the size

It's probably just a cinematic scaling error. There will be several. We should get used to them.
However, if you need to find a justification for it, it's easy enough to say that they aren't at the center of the bridge. If they are closer to either end of it, the water would be more shallow, and Godzilla would come up higher on the bridge.

Sigh...
Yep. They lied, just to be dicks.
He is 350ft Tall people, those things on his neck ARE gills, and the Brazil photo is part of the final advertising design-- Deal with it.

Hmmm. I'm not certain of what to make of this. An interesting question has been raised. That being said, I've a feeling there's an explanation we might not readily see. :)

they said he is 360 right or 350 feet high and the highest point of the Golden Gate Bridge is 746 feet thats what i meant he is almost half the size of the highest point on it.

I'm willing to bet he's at either end of the bridge cuz of the suspension cables there tapering down, and he's way out of the water..

SJTHUMPER57 - You've got an interesting point there. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. :)

I'm not sure I'f I'm making sense here, but Godzilla's amphibiousness might be at play during that scene.
The water is deep yes, but he's managing to keep half of his body afloat, and that's what was seen on the bridge. I'm referring to his appearance on the trailer and not the photo above. I'm still skeptical to the validity of that photo, it feels too "pacific rim-ish" like the opening scene of trespasser attacking golden gate.

i dont think godzilla would be floating here, to come up to where he is on the bridge, it pretty much just be everything bellow his knees in the water and that would make a lot less sence than him just being bigger than what we have been led to belive

Actually, the height of Godzilla isn't necessarily exaggerated in the trailers. The depth of the water around the Golden Gate Bridge is about 372 ft deep at the center, but it trails off towards the edges. Godzilla's attack on the bridge and his encounter with the military is likely nearer to the shore than the trailers let on. The bridge is, after all, a mile and a quarter long, so the section we see in the trailers is only a fraction of its total length.
If he's anywhere near the shore, within several hundred meters of it, he'll be able to stand up no problem.
