AdminGodzillaMar-13-2014 6:07 PMApparently there's going to be a big announcment about it this May. No doubt, Daiei/Kadokawa will try to immulate the look and feel of Legendary's Godzilla.
Gamera's 50th anniversary is next year, so this makes sense.
On top of that is rumors of anew Ultraman television series called "Ultraman Victory".
GGojira45 might be right. If the new Godzilla is a hit it could spark some sort of revitalization of tokusatsu in Japan. I'm not holding my breath, exactly, but it'd be nice if audiences had a hunger for it again following Legendary's Godzilla.

A 13th film would be a welcome addition to an ever growing series of updated, rebooted, and original kaiju films/series that we are getting now! Could our favorite genre be heading towards a new Golden Age?!?!?!?! We can only pray!

To be fair a new movie hasn't officially been announced yet. It's simply likely, especially since the magazine is owned by Kadokawa. If it is a new movie it will most likely not be from an American production company, but Daiei themselves with traditional effects work.

And if this new gamera is in the same style as the Hikkaider reboot, expect it to be tokusatsu, not American.
We also don't even know where things are going with this new Godzilla film. For all we know, we could get this one movie, then Toho yoink Godzilla back and start making their own stuff.
Lets not get excited over this just yet.
We had a really good opportunity for a Godzilla vs Gamera film in 2003-2004 and that boat sailed, I don't think it'll be coming back any time soon.
