MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 8:53 AMHey guys, longtime lurker and big G fan. Trailer has be excited but a little confused. I haven' tread spoilers or potential leaked scripts and don't really want to, but was hoping some one could clear this up for me:
"In 1954, we awoke something." Clearly pays a connection with the first movie, but I can't tell if the exact events occurred from the first film in this one. Did the original Gojira still attack Tokyo? Is the only connection to the two movies is that each Godzilla was creates by the same nuclear testing? Were there two Godzillas, 1954 and 2014?
I also thought there was a chance that the Godzilla rising from the sea by the island was video of the 1954 Gojira. Thoughts? I'd appreciate them. Thanks guys!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 2:56 PMIt's not a direct sequel, it only pays tribute to the original film. Godzilla and the Mutos are unknown to the public in the new film and no way in hell is anybody forgetting about a monster rampaging across Japan.

I originally thought that Bryan Cranston's voiceover in the trailer was his character talking to Serizawa about what actually happened at that time, and that it had been somehow "cover-storied" into some kind of natural phenomena, but now that I've seen the IGN video, that theory is gone.
If something was "awakened" in 1954, what events took place from that? Also, what happened between 1954 and present day?
