MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 6:36 PMThis comes from an interview with Gareth Edwards in the new Empire Magazine, and yes, I did buy the magazine and have read through it to bring you these details.
The 1954 sequence is a "pre-title" sequence, meaning it is the intro to the movie. After that sequence ends and the title rolls, we will jump right into the 1999 sequence where Cranston loses his wife. 15 years later, present day, he's obsessed with finding out the truth behind the incident.
That's the general, and extremely basic, plot of the film for now.
Next, the Muto's are confirmed beyond the shadow of a doubt to be 100% new creations. Gareth said he wanted to create something new that we haven't seen before, and he referenced not only previous Godzilla films, but films like Starship Troopers and other B movie monster flicks to find inspiration. He describes the Muto's as "an amalgam", so they're all 100% new. No Toho kaiju confirmed 100% now.
Next comes the fact that the monsters are, at least in part, created using motion capture with Andy Serkis's team at The Imaginarium. They are bringing emotion to the monsters in every gesture, facial twitch, and in the body language. Godzilla and the Muto's have personalities that Edwards says will shine through, and it's how we'll be connecting to them throughout the film.
And finally, the height of 350' is in fact final. There is a size chart provided directly by Legendary and Edwards in the article, and their Godzilla is in fact 350'. Sorry guys, but he's not going to be 400'+. He's 350', period. Confirmed, end of story.
So there you go! Those are the main details concerning Godzilla and the other monsters in this upcoming film that we know of so far!
I hope you enjoy!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 9:25 PMJust to clarify, did Gareth Edwards explicitly and definitively say that there would be NO other Toho kaiju besides Godzilla whatsoever, period, or did he just say that the Mutos specifically wouldn't be a modern version of some Toho kaiju?
I ask this because A) I've heard various statements from fans that no other classic Toho kaiju besides Godzilla would show up, but without any clear citations for this assertion, and B) I've also heard reports of some centipede-like monster that pretty much every source I've come across say is completely separate from the Mutos.
