The relevance of 1954 and the original film, and how it will play out in the new one

Now, we all know by this point that there will be scenes and mentions of 1954. Now, what I ask of you guys is this:

What discrepancies with the original story do you see happening to differentiate this film from the likes of all others that simply used the same story of the 1954 film as a starting point? Also, do you guys believe that some of the characters and the likes from the original film could be represented in the new one in some capacity?

Additionally, I've garnered a few theories based on everything I've seen so far in terms of leaks and official/unofficial info (Please note that the following is pure speculation and in no way endorsed as canon):

This new Godzilla may in fact be the very same as the original one, but in the circumstance that the 1954 story never happened, and now we're seeing him emerge fully for the first time in this new origin story. As well, the new modern-day Serizawa may be a descendant of the original, with the above info pointing towards Daisuke Serizawa never having to sacrifice himself to kill the original Godzilla, thus living on to begin his descendant line with Emiko Yamane, and this serving as an important story element.

Please comment below to tell me what you guys think!

i think the 1954 scens will include the bikini atoll hydrogen bomb which leads to the Lucky Dragon incident, i also belive that this new serizawa has no link to the original, it maybe just a homage/reference to the original, the 1954 scnes maybe like serizaw's childhood flashbacks or it is some of godzilla's or the MUTOs origins.

I have my doubts about this theory, but it is an interesting one to contemplate.

The likelihood of this Serizawa bearing any actual relation to the one from the original Gojira is astronomically low. The casting and the name was more likely to have been a simple nod of respect to the original to include at least one original character. No doubt Legendary had to pay out the ass to Toho to get the right to use that character's name in usch a fashion, or at least let them know ahead of time that they had it planned out.

Still, I doubt very much that this Serizawa will hold relations to the 1954 character.

What I would love to see (PURE SPECULATION AHEAD) is if Godzilla appears in 1954, and then disappears. There is a cover-up/people think he's dead/never knew it happened.

But something he leaves behind, like radioactive particles, or regenerative tissue, or something like this is found by Dr. Serizawa (Ken Watanbe). Then Serizawa, using these Godzilla remnants either acidentally creates the MUTO's, or creates the technology/lays the foundation for the MUTO's to be born.

The MUTO organization then takes this technology from Serizawa (against his wishes), and runs wild with it, tampering with it. A guilt ridden Serizawa goes into hiding, while the arrogant MUTO organization blunderingly unleashes the MUTO monsters on mankind.

Then Godzilla returns!!!

Having studied Godzilla closely an older Serizawa (Akira Takarada) emerges and admits all this Cranston's character in order to redeem himself, and share vital information for how Godzilla may be defeated/driven away.

I think, if it played out like that, all of young Serisawa's scenes would all be told via flashback to Cranston, after Godzilla and the MUTO monsters have emerged in the present.

Well, it's good to see people either providing thought-provoking crticism, or coming up with their own theories. This is the kind of stuff I like to see!
