But hey did any of you noticed that this movie is not the only film that has its marketing going on like this?
Im sure all of you know and have seen Steven Speilbergs E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, when that movie was coming out, in the trailers they have not shown any parts of ET at all accept his finger and also no products of it were being sold either, like Models, posters, books, and Toys until the films release.
and for its release it made 700 million at the Box Office and for 1982 thats alot of money.
Buttom line dont put too much worries on the Godzilla's marketing.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-02-2014 2:34 PMwell, there is us as fans and those bigger names who like godzilla as well, you got ign, mtv (to a lesser extent), big newspaper publishers, internet reviwers about 3 months left which is still plenty of time infact when it hits the 100 day mark is when i think the marketing will start to kick off but all that is left is:
1. more posters, so far we only have 2 theatrical posters, the recent one that came with the tariler is the most used so far, we need more posters that still make the movie good while still hiding godzilla full body, also ones with the cast
2. magazine coverage, in magazines like the empire or any big sci fi magz, they arent extactly nessery but it does give more publicity
3. anouther tailer/teaser, this is what most of us want, the next trailer should do exactly what the first teaser did but instead show more of the monsters, and just like the first teaser, hide them, either by showing parts of them or showing a silouete.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-02-2014 2:37 PMbut really the marketing has been fine, it should kick off bigger later this month about 2 weeks time, that would make it exactly 3 months before the movie (WOW time does fly by so fast)

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-02-2014 3:56 PMThey still had a lot of trailers for ET though and those started, I believe, a long time before te movie was released. Those trailers, coupled with Speilberg's name, really drew a lot of attention to the film. Don't get me wrong I still hope/think Godzilla can and should do really well, I just don't find the example as applicable, especially since the film landscape has changed in the 3 decades since

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-02-2014 5:47 PMThe first trailer with the epic HALO jump sequence is enough I think. Why do you all need to see (and therefore spoil) more of the movie when simply by being here it's pretty obvious you're already invested in the project. I dunno, a film like this will thrive on the monster seqyences and the big reveals so I'm all for shrouding it in secrecy until its release and just showing the halo jump teaser trailer more frquently towards the release to create hype.
