MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2014 4:25 PMHi People, now I was looking for new info about Godzilla and I found this
The new Godzilla movie will not be appearing at this year's Super Bowl.
Variety has received a confirmation that Warner Bros. will not be debut any footage at the Super Bowl of any kind for any of their movies.
No specific reason is stated, but it's thought WB is skipping out - again - in part due to cost (estimated at $4 million for a 30-second spot) as well as that movie trailers are not that well remembered following the Super Bowl.
It's noted in the report that movies that aren't being promoted at the Super Bowl will be promoted elsewhere, such as online or during the Winter Olympics.
Interestingly enough, the next Godzilla trailer has been rumored for february 7th, which is the first day of the Winter Olympics.

I think this might actually be better for Godzilla than advertising at the Super Bowl. I'm sure numbers for people who recall movie trailers during the Olympics are probably about the same, but here's the difference: The Winter Olympics go on for two weeks. The Super Bowl is only one day. If Godzilla trailers are spinkled throughout 14 days by Legendary, that might engrain the film in audiences' brains better than a Super Bowl spot. Maybe, anyway. I'll have to research the numbers on that.
This is of course if it's true.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-29-2014 12:51 PMThat rumor was started by one of the many failed prophets who tried to predict the first official trailer and they never provided a source and no evidence (let alone any proof) to back up their claim.
Do not put faith in this rumor.

The source is originally from Variety which is one of the cinema industry's most trusted news outlets. They never made a prediction about the first trailer. You should look more carefully next time.
