Would you guys like to see some classic Toho monsters in the sequel? That is if it does well enough. Which it probably should. But some really good ones and probably the most popular monsters are King Ghidora, MechaGodzilla, Mothra, Anguiris, Rodan, and maybe even Gigan. I mean just imagine if they did a MechaGodzilla/transformer concept. Not saying that he would transform from a car or anything like that.lol. I like the jaegers in pacific Rim and all but they moved so slow and really didn't have that great of weapons. What I'm trying to say is just imagine if Mecahgodzilla could fly around and have multiple weapons that it could shoot at once. Sort of like the original one. But with cgi and multiple body parts transforming into weapons and all that cool stuff. Also a modern day reimagining of King Ghidora would be really cool as well.(if in the right hands) which it seems to be with Gareth Edwards. Just wanted to get all of your opinions or other ideas on this topic cause I'm sure I can't be the only one who dreams about this stuff all the time.

Well, Gareth is taking this movie in a very realistic and dark approach. I think he'd do a sequel this way as well. Considering that the Jaegers(Which are very cool) were also kinda impractical..Im not too certain there'd be a Mechagodzilla. However, I could picture like Anguiris and Rodan all modernized and horrifying yet awesome. But I love this post, endless possibilities and thoughts.

As long as it's not Kamaruras, Kumonga, Ghidorah, Mothra, or Mecha G I'd be happy seeing an old toho monster

You will never get a Ghidora in these American films. Although it's one of godzilla's sworn enemies, a three headed dragon is pretty laughable in this day and age. People want to see something they don't know much about. The Cloverfield monster for example is perfect. A year after the movie people were still debating its origins because it was so damn interesting. Was it from space? Was it from the sea? Now we know it's from the sea but what kept its whole origin under wraps waste fact that it looked otherworldly, then again, what do beings from ocean trenches look like? Other worldly being lol! Ghidora wouldn't work. People would laugh at it.

Regardless of whether or not there's a sequel, Toho monsters do not belong in an American franchise. Godzilla is the focus, not Toho's lineup. I know Toho monsters are cool, as I'm a big fan myself, but this really needs to stop. King Ghidora is a three headed space dragon. Where's the realism that Legendary is going for in that idea? MechaGodzilla is a contrived and completely unoriginal concept today. When it first came out, it was kind of cool, but for an American franchise there is no logical reason to base a giant robot on the body design of a Kaiju. No logic at all. Why would they do that when making a human shaped one is so much easier and would be that much easier to pilot and operate since they don't have to worry about anatomy differences? Mothra is a guardian deity, which is interesting in its own way, but still doesn't fit the realism that Legendary is after. Anguiris is anguirus, and he doesn't even have a true classification. Is he a dinosaur or an armadillo? The jury is still out on that one. Rodan is a flying pterodactyl-like creature, again no realism. Gigan is a space robot with a buzzsaw for a chest... Do I even need to ask about this one? Look, Toho has always been good at making cool monsters. We all know that, we all love it. But seriously, just stop with all the Toho stuff people. This is a new American franchise and it's going to feature American creatures. Even Godzilla himself has been re-imagined and it is no longer Toho's Godzilla. This is going to be America's Godzilla. Gareth said he'd like it to be considered part of the Toho lineup, but that's a dream that will never become reality because it's his Godzilla. It's America's Godzilla. This is an American franchise, and bringing back Toho's monsters would be nothing short of contrived, irresponsible, and it would demonstrate a lack of creativity on the part of Legendary Pictures which would hurt the franchise more than help. Toho's monsters are cool and all, but they need to stay where they are: with Toho, not Legendary Pictures.

@KYERO Well if you wanna get all technical about this realism bull crap why even make the movie in the first place. I mean yeah, you really need to have good actors to make a movie of this spectacle be successful. That's really where the realism comes into play. Monsters aren't the realistic part of the movie. It's the way the director makes you perceive these creatures. Say a giant monster from outer space comes and starts destroying the world. Nobody is gonna give a crap about how realistic that is. It all depends on how they can play that into a story line. Shit, I'd rather have giant lizard with some kinds of special powers or extra body parts then some regular giant lizard with no sorts of powers or anything at all. The audience is gonna want to see something that will make them say " Wow, that thing is freakin scary, and it looks bad ass!" Not "Hey, Jim, this monster is so realistic, it can't do anything but bite and scratch." However, aside from me disagreeing with you about that, I really do like how you said this is "Americas Godzilla" and you're right. It is very unoriginal to use Toho monsters for a sequel but you can't tell me you wouldn't like to see the big G take on King Ghidora one more time. I don't see why anyone would laugh at that. A three headed dragon wouldn't really be something to laugh about. Especially if it looked mean and destroyed everything in it's path, including other kaiju. I have faith Legendary will be able to create monsters just as good, If not better than these Toho Classics. I mean really, you could think of a million ways to keep bringing in these giant monsters. As long as you don't stray from the characters too much. That was really the big downfall with Pacific Rim. The actors weren't really that great and honestly I could of cared less about them. I just wanted to see the monsters fight the entire time. Also the cheesy characters(Charlie Day and that other weird scientist guy really sucked) that's really where your realism comes from. Not the monsters. Idris Elba, I think that's his name( the black guy) was about the only person who brought any realism at all into that movie. Sorry to get a little off topic. I was just giving an example if how not to make a monster movie realistic. Feel free to hit me back with your opinion 😉

I just hope they got all the monster's origin correct. For Example: Anguirus, Rodan, Gorosaurus and Titanosaurus are just Giant Not-Irradiated Dinosaurs. King Ghidorah is a Space Dragon that destroys planets(I think). Mothra is an Ancient Deity that looks like a butterfly/moth hybrid that protects earth. Gigan is just an alien cyborg. You know what I mean.
