Godzilla will not be refered as king of the monsters in this new age of the franchise, but he will be refered as the devil, he will be refered as...the destroyer of worlds. But still is technicly the king of the monsters just not refered as that. But the truth is that when the japenese created him, his purpose wasn't supposed to be a king, he was supposed to be an example of what the human race deserves. Thats what the new movie seems to be taking. There going back to the ORIGINAL roots of the godzilla we should have gotten by never had. Dont get me wrong, though he is the king of the monsters and the best of the best. This new era of the franchise will probably be taking back to the ORIGINAL roots of the godzilla we don't want, but hes the monster we need.

I don't see any proof he won't still be referred to as king of the monsters. Actually since he's going to fight other monsters in the opening movie to show his dominance the title would fit him better.

Thats a very good question Spartanwarrior. Well because the CAMPY godzilla was refered as the king of the monsters. As TheGMan123 said, that wasn't the purpose behind his existince, it was to show that this is the monster we deserve. And that he is an example of all of humanities mistakes and we are going to have to live up to it, until the americans ( im not threatning them) made an edited version and renamed it "Godzilla:King Of The Monsters. So the japanese version wasn't about him being king, it was about him being a giant terrifying force of nature that was born from all of the human races mistakes and is here to give us the punishment we deserve. Remember he is the king of the monsters just not refered as that. After what weve learned, yes he will be kicking some monster ass in this new movie but there still taking it back to the roots of the ORIGINAL godzilla. Campy godzilla= awsome Original godzilla= serious. We need to take the king more serously and not so worried about the monsters he will fight.

Godzilla's title as "King of the Monsters" was first born during the 1956 Americanized version of the original Gojira film when the title was changed from Gojira to Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The title stuck, and Godzilla was referred to as "King of the Monsters" not because it was a real title, but because it was the original Gojira film which gave birth to the giant Kaiju genre. The monster movies which inspired Godzilla were fun and just as campy as most of Godzilla's Showa films, but they were hardly on the scale that Godzilla himself represented. As the monster which inspired so many other giant monster films, Godzilla was referred to as the "King of the Monsters." It's not, nor has it ever been, a real title that Godzilla has worn of necessity. It's a term of endearment, nothing more. Godzilla is simply Godzilla, but regardless he always has been and always will be the undisputed King of the Monsters in the minds and hearts of true G-fans.
