He also did [i]The Ides of March[/i] (one of my favorite soundtracks of his), [i]The Curious Case of Benjamin Button[/i], [i]The King's Speech[/i] and [i]Argo[/i]. Those last two movies were nominated for best score.
I think it's interesting Edwards went with him instead a typical blockbuster composer like Brian Tyler, Hans Zimmer, Ramin Djwadi...etc...etc... Desplat isn't quite as grandiose as those names, but he has a real, genuine sense of detail in his work. I'm looking forward to hearing what kind of theme he comes up with for [i]Godzilla[/i].
