Is Shin Gojira's Atomic Breath a hidden Evangelion reference?

Think about this.

There has been a ton of cross promotional material between Godzilla and Evangelion. The director of Shin Gojira directed Evangelion. Godzilla's new Atomic Breath is purple. Evangelion Unit 01, which is piloted by the main character of the series, Shinji Ikari, is also purple. The color of Godzilla's Atomic Breath is the same color as the Shinji's Eva. Is this just coincidence, or is it a hidden reference? I mean, it would make sense with all the cross promotion. It may not have been intended. Maybe I'm just over thinking it?
