To answer your question, have you ever seen the Gamera trilogy of the 90's? Because, the director of the special effects knows what he's doing. It may not be too different from the live action film Attack on Titan or even Giant God warrior appears in Tokyo. Since this is Godzilla, I'm pretty sure Shinji Higuchi will or hopefully will come close to matching his work with Gamera 3 the revenge of Irys. 

I mean, Shinji Higuchi just isn't a Godzilla fan but, a fan of the whole tokusatsu genre and that's what makes this film so special.

I believe that what Huge-Ben said is the key.

So I expect a judicious 'blend' of practical and digital effects, the 'hybrid' Shinji Higuchi has referred to. And he's the best person to do this. He is of immense talent and is a fan of the genre and the art form, a true son of tokusatsu. Accordiingly, I anticipate a seamless combining the effects to the point that one cannot discern where one type ends and the other begins. However, just so that we are not deprived of the pleasure of knowing that we're seeing 'special effects,' I expect that we'll see the style and flourishes that distinguish and characterize tokusatsu effects, if you know what I mean, God willing.
