MemberMothra LarvaeNov-05-2014 3:33 PMThe 2014 movie shares some similarities with the Heisei era, in that not is Godzilla just affected by radiaition, but he feeds on it. Could the new Godzilla start finding more and more radiation, and eventually eat so much that he starts having a meltdown? Would he take on a burning form?
What do you think?
I dont ever see this happening.
Godzilla 2014 is not a Hog like Heisei was, he doesnt go on Radiation stampedes and absorb it.
He gets his radiation from the center of th earth and he just sleeps there so no, i dont believe we will see a meltdown from him.
Good grief.
That would be could but I don't see that hApping! I think Gareth has other Plans for his death
There are strong men and weak men. The strong ones are here to keep the weak ones up when ever they fail.
He can't die. Toho gives studios making a Godzilla film this rule: Godzilla can not die.
“Banana oil.”- George Takei, Gigantis: The Fire Monster
it might be possible i mean too much of anything is bad for you. i have a theory that he feeds on a mix of physical prey and radiation from the earths core. if he doesnt get enough physical prey then he has to rely on radiation to supplement it and i think absorbing too much would probably kill him. i imagine its a lot though considering during his original time period radiation was really abundant
If they do decide to kill him it's possible they could go with the meltdown route, but I don't think it's likely
Godzilla will not die, because it is part of Toho and Legendary's contract that he can't. Besides Toho is very sensitive about killing Godzilla off and won't just do it to "make the movie seem darker" or get cheap shock value.
"When man falls into conflict with nature, monsters are born." - Professor Hayashida, The Return of Godzilla
i imagine it wont be for shock value if he he does and remember that contracts do indeed change. if they trust legendary enough with it it could very well happen. we shouldnt just assume it will stay the same forever. we should expect anything at anytime and not set ourselves up for dissapointment
Toho could alter their contract, but they have absolutely no reason to do it. Gareth Edwards doesn't want to kill Godzilla off because he sees Godzilla as an immortal symbol. Godzilla is a representation of nature's power to correct itself regardless of the interference of mankind, especially this interpretation of him. Killing Godzilla off would go against the premise of the Legendary series, it would upset a lot of fans, and it would serve no real purpose except appeasing the minority of fans who for some reason are dead-set on Godzilla being killed off.

Amongst a novel of other rules.
Yes, along with Godzilla not eating people, having a connection with nuclear radiation, having three rows of spines on his back, and being enemies with King Ghidorah.

^And only specific designs of Godzilla can faceoff with certain designs of King Ghidorah.
And his arm can't be positioned oddly...
The point is conditions can be changed, and with 2 more movies scheduled the idea that the initial contract couldnt be altered if Legendary felt that Godzilla dying worked with the story they wanted to use is somewhat mistaken. Pretty much if this sequel is extremely successful I can see toho giving Legendary a lot more freedom than they did with the first movie that including the ability to kill Godzilla
I personally don't see Godzilla being killed off that likely. However, I can imagine that we can think he's going to be dead a few times, being put on edge as our mighty symbol seems to have fallen down and can't get back up. But then....
Nature proves the folly of man time and time again.
Also, Guys, we have to go into facts as to WHY Godzilla went into Nuclear mode. The reason why (based on Cinemassacre's Godzillathon episode of GvD), is that Godzilla's heart is a nuclear reactor. Correct me if im wrong on any of this, but we havent had any form of 'details' as to Godzilla 2014 having a Nuclear Heart. Sure we know that he feeds on it and I could see how he could go into meltdown by what dinoboy22 was saying about the mix of food sources but i'm just saying.
