Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan...Confirmed For Sequel/Sequels...(Theory)

i dont think legendary would risk telling us this early if the would just have small appearances 

These are literally the 3 biggest monsters in the series coming behind only Godzilla himself. The amount of fan outcry that would come from just giving them small cameos, or flashbacks would be extreme. If Gareth had these big monsters play second fiddle to an original I doubt he'd be back to make the 3rd.

I could see other monsters being in the movie as cameos or just for an extra beating for Godzilla to give (Vininshu) but I doubt Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan would be cameos.

Atleast change the title from saying, (Dont get your hopes up) to theory.

^You joke, but it wouldn't be the first time a healthy slate of monsters are mere cameos.

Honestly I think Legendary would be shooting themselves in the foot if they just teased or did cameos. The general public who have very tiny knowledge at least know of a three head dragon and a giant butterfly that Godzilla fights. Its not like they're unknowns to the general public. 

But I'm over here wanting Angurius in the new series but that's just me.

@GMAN2887 You forget, the monsters that were mere cameos in that movie were very minor ones (with the exception of Rodan, and that was because there were just a bajillion monsters in the film and they couldn't really give any other monsters than Godzilla, Mothra, and Ghidorah much screen time).

GorillaGodzilla is cute pretending that I don't make sense just because of the fact that some of what I've discussed has gone completely over his head, but I digress.

As little as I care for the Toho monsters being used in general, I'm afraid that it's quite accurate to say that the fan backlash would be overwhelming. The Godzilla fans would never stand for something as simple as a cameo from three of Godzilla's most beloved enemies (even if one of them is so overrated that his golden hide should never have been mentioned in the first place imltho).

Sadly, even Gareth wouldn't risk angering the fans with something like a cameo for these three. However, I think it's also fair to say that it's too early to say what could happen as we don't even know what they're doing to the lore of these creatures yet.

For all we know, all three could be receiving overhauls to their design, and not just in shape or color. Ghidorah, for instance, is famous for being a Godzilla enemy save for GMK where he was a hero. But why is he always a villain? Convenience? That's not enough for a franchise like this. Given how they treated Godzilla, I'm inclined to believe that all three monsters are going to be uncaring for humanity, but not inherently evil. Ghidorah has sort of been type cast by the fans since his debut as a villain figure, but I doubt that will be the case this time. Maybe I'm wrong and Ghidorah will be a villain intent on humanity's destruction, but given how both Godzilla and the Muto creatures were handled this time, I doubt it.

But hey, speculatino is speculation no matter where it comes from so if they do put the Toho monsters in cameo appearances I'm going to laugh. After that, I'll probably die inside a little bit knowing that they were just there for show and not for some good old fashioned destruction and monster brawling. Even though I don't care for the Toho monsters being used, if they are to be used, they'd better do something awesome.

Practically all of the monsters in that movie were canonfodder for Godzilla. I don't consider many monsters other than Godzilla as having standout roles.
