MemberMothra LarvaeSep-27-2014 6:19 PMI dont know much about godzilla and i have slways had this question.Ok, so Godzilla is freakin huge and like all animals it needs food and it is the biggest thing around. It can't live off of people or animals. Does it store radiation in his spikes then turns it into useable energy. Kind like a animal version of photosenthsis? Sorry if this offends anyone:/
Well, as the movie explained, he feeds off of radiation. Before, he fed on the naturally occuring stuff on the surface, but after radiation levels died down, he switched to the stuff produced by the Earth's core. Hope that helps C:
Yeah it seems that it follows the Heisei Godzilla in terms of a food source. Just uses radiation to feed itself.
Interestingly it seems the Godzillasaurus and Minilla were plant eaters.
Depends from version
Showa godzilla ate Farm animals and fish, he is also stated to have ate 8 cows and 3 pigs
Heisei seems to feed on both radiation and Sea life as Godzilla Jr ate many whales when it grew older and abandoned its herbihbore diet
and in the millenium it varies from film to film due to each one taking place in a difrent universe
I think LegendaryGoji fed on a combonation of Radiation and meat.

He uses radiation a his primal food source. But here is my question?
While at Janjira we see there is no radiation because of the male M.U.T.O feeding off it. This suggest that he is absorbing the radiation. But towards the end of the movie the female physically eat the bomb. Why is this? I though she would just absorb the radiation. So, follow up question, does Godzilla absorb of actually "eat" radioactive substances?
Well, in theory, the Legendary Godzilla fed off radiation. but realistically Godzilla, or any living thing would need a source of solid nutrients to make new cells when old ones die. Energy alone, nulcear, solar, or other, could not do that.
As stated in another thread by someone else (I think it was Gman, can't say off the top of my head) that part of Godzilla is that he is unexplainable by science, which would include sources of nutrients.
Other than that, I feel like JRR nailed it on the head.
In Godzilla 2014 it never said that Godzilla did not eat meat ( or other sources of nutrience and protien ) so I assumed he ate physical food and radiation.
I? I am a monument to all of your sins.
Well, he lives deep in the ocean depths feeding on radiation from the Earth's core. I'm not sure what such depths has to offer in terms of substantial solid food aside from the occasional giant cephalopod or some rocks.

FUNNY THOUGHT
---probably why we rarely find any huge squids or octupi or whatevver huge sea creaature there is today ...ok
I believe that early in life, when Godzilla was a hatchling and unable to leave the nest, he would have ate plants, insects and what ever his parents brought back to the nest. Then, as he got older and began hunting for himself, he would have ate sea-life (large schools of fish, sharks, dolphins, whales, squids, etc), vertabrate mammals (cows, deer, elephants, etc), other monsters (Muto, Shinomura, Deutalios (A rat montser to appear in Godzilla vs Biollante, which Godzilla was supposed to fight, kill and eat.), etc.) and radiation. But that's just my opinion.
\"SKREEONGK!\" -Godzilla
I think radation was the staple part of his diet, but he wouldn't hesitate to eat other kaiju.
“Banana oil.”- George Takei, Gigantis: The Fire Monster
I agree on the photosynthesis theroy. Godzilla only uses his mouth in combat with other M.U.T.O.'s and at times military forces who get too close to his territory or attack him first.
Showa Gojira- absorbed Radiation constantly, like his oxygen, but it is said he ate Fish and Whale.
Heisei Godzilla- absorbed Radiation as his food source.
Millenium- absorbed Fillet mignon of radiation
Legendary Godzilla- absorbs Radiation, as it acts as food and heals and replaces the benefits that food would give so that he doesnt have to eat it.
Good grief.
