I think the contrast of the darkness actually looks really good on my tv, and the dark scenes dont look soo bad.

I mean they are pretty dark but i can still see the battle happening.

I rate the dvd a 4/5 it is very nice i like the special features, not much to really complain about.

I can now watch Godzilla 2014 whenever i want xD.

Good grief.

I for one am very upset with the Blu-ray, dvd, uv copy That I paid $20 for at wal-mart. Lets start out by saying I don'y have a bluray So I bought this one because it has the extra special features on the dvd too. Well no it does'nt only the blu ray does and guess where it is going tomorrow?.... back to wal-mart to be exchanged for the $15 dvd with 2 special features! I am soooo mad now it is not even funny!

I'm of the fortunate group that's not having problems with it. As far as picture goes it's fantastic. The sounds a little meh but I'm 95% sure it's due to my speakers starting to crap out.

The only thing regarding the blu ray I'm mad about is that Target didn't have their exclusive version :/ Oh well!

I got the target exclusive Blu-Ray, and I must say, nothing's particularly wrong with it.

I mean, yeah, it's a bit darker than expected (darker than the Blu-Ray screencaps we got a while back) but it's DEFINITELY brighter than the Digital release. It's much easier to see on television than on a computer screen.

My only complaint is they kind of took the boring route with the menu system, with only a stand alone image and a quick menu bar across the bottom. They didn't even name their chapters (but hey, these are minor complaints).

Although, I'd expect the extended release to be a bit more appealing (if we ever get it).

It's a passable effort that alienates customers who can't get the contrast levels at an appropriate place. Customers shouldn't have to mess with the settings just to watch a disc. The special features are okay until you consider there's far more behind-the-scenes material released online from Legendary/WB. Not nearly enough chapter stops either. Audio levels are great though.

It's a 2 out 5 Bluray considering this is for a recent, multi-million dollar, Hollywood blockbuster, not a budget release for niche buyers like Sony's discs.

I'll be watching GMK this weekend instead.

Wow! From what I'm seeing so far, it appears that the Bluray release has been relatively well-received. Most excellent! :)

The Blu-ray is terrible. It's a mess of darkness. Never had this problem with any other movie. So far, the extras are okay, but I haven't really gotten into them. Generally, this disk is a dissapointment. I swear, this movie goes out of it's way on every level to NOT have you see anything worth watching.

Bought the target exclusive to get the special rebirth of an icon feature which is basically the same stuff shown in the other bonus features. Huge waste. The dvd looked meh but the picture was gorgeous on bluray even though yeah the final battle was still dark. Also its pretty standard for commentary and deleted scenes to be on a dvd/bluray but I assume its left out so we'll double dip and get the super mega ultra special extended edition that will probably come out in four years to promote Godzilla 2.

I picked up the Blu Ray at Target for the exclusive content also, and have to agree, it’s disappointing because it is a rehash of stuff that’s in the other supplements. Not worth the extra $3. It is on the whole a fairly bare-bones release. I have not had the darkness problem that many other folks seem to be having, but I did notice that when they show the nighttime fighting scenes in the extra material, it does seem brighter. Hmmm. I have to agree with ThePike, in that they really do go out of their way to not show you a whole lot, both in the movie and this release.

The dvd version sucked. I could have had a better time watching older black and white films compared to the new godzilla 2014 dvd.

I have both DVDs, but I haven't used the regular DVD yet. However, the Blu-ray is INCREDIBLE!!!
