MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 9:43 AMAs everyone should be well aware of by now, there is a new Godzilla mobile game coming out the same day as the new movie; May 16th. Personally, I'm really excited. I love puzzle games, and combining that with Godzilla doing what he does best is simply fantastic!
Though, with this on the horizon, there also looms a question as large as Godzilla himself: Will it determine the future of Godzilla games?
I personally believe it will. Me and my local G-friends are super excited for it (I guess because we're all Tetris geeks too), but we've all asked each other that same question.
What do you all think?
Will Godzilla: Smash 3 determine the future of Godzilla games?
yes, and it's that we will be getting candy crush copy godzilla games and not actual fighting based ones and that we can only foresee it's future on mobile devices. Nothing good to look forward to.
I think that they're making Godzilla Smash 3 as an apology for not making a console game for the movie, it'd be weird to have a mobile game and a console game you know?...
@Junkerde- Snooping around, I see you are truly as unpleasent as I thought. Ever heard of a little thing called optimism, sir/ma'am?
@DannyBlazor- I feel they are making it to test the market. See how many people download it before anyone attempts to make an actual console game.
Test the waters before jumping in head or feet first. You don't want to drown.
I with you Devianteist. I think they are testing the market. I know I am downloading on the morning of May 16th.
"There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self." - Ernest Hemingway.
@Junkerde- Ah, I see. You are one of those people. I will not call you master, thank you. In fact, you're post has been reported for that remark.
As for reality, optimism is part of reality, sir/ma'am. Without it, we would not have a new Godzilla movie. Nor would we have electricity or anything else we have today. So, yes, I have indeed heard of reality. You're version of it is obviously extremely narrow-minded.
It's do decide if a console game will get good sales. It's a really clever market technique. To see how a free mobile game goed before building a biger budget console game.
Eh, I don't think this new mobile game will determine the future of Godzilla games so much as how the whole gaming industry just seems to be heading into the tablet/mobile market. It's not a Godzilla thing....it's a gaming thing.
PC/Console gaming, while still prevalent, is increasingly taking a backseat to Fruit Ninja, Bejeweled and stuff like that.
Mobile games generally a cheaper and easier to produce. The games have a much higher profit percentage per unit sold. So the industry has no reason not to cater to that demographic if that's what is selling.
Junkerde has a right to be upset about it. He could maybe word it more nicely, but yeah, it makes me sad. I'm getting sick and tired of watered down games, and lackluster investment into gaming PC's and Consoles. The games that I (and I'm assuming Junkerde) like to play just aren't getting made any more. Or if they are getting made, corners and content are getting cut at the same price points, all to compete with the profit levels of 'Clash of Clans' and crap like that.
ASUS' RoG Department has been increasingly downsized, in favor of bringing the latest 'Phablet' to Electronics Expos.
NVIDIA and AMD are charging way more for their high end graphics cards than they used to, recognizing it's becoming more of a niche market than it already was, and so selling fewer units means they need to sell at a higher price in order to make the same amount of money.
The 'Next Gen' of gaming took only a couple baby steps forward compared to the advancements their predecessors made over the previous generation. Primarily, because there wouldn't have been a profit in pushing the envelope when 'keep it simple stupid' stuff like Angry Birds is Candy Crushing the market.
RTS' like Total War and Starcraft are dumbing themselves down or dying off in favor of increasingly simplistic MOBA's or trying to accomodate mobile device controls (which means complex game controls...and as such complex games...are out of the question)
Mobile Gaming represents the Justin Bieber of the gaming world. Massively popular, cheap, but not necessarily good. It is saddening to see gaming head down that direction, and apparently it's dragging Godzilla games along with it.
Maybe a new Godzilla Console game will be released. But I'm increasingly fearful that when/if it does, it won't be as good as the Godzilla games that came before. Instead it will be a rushed, overpriced, glitchy mess that embodies the state of franchise gaming today (see the latest Star Trek console games as an example)
@Devianteist
You know what's also part of reality? Things not turning out as they should, so you compare it with inventions and electricity, well then I compare mine with war and poverty, you only see ONE side of it like I do, so saying I'm one sided is hypocritical.
Dont make me laugh, lets be real here, your reality is "extremely narrow-minded" as well, you strictly expect sunshine and flowers and people dancing with joy!.
The fact that you report my comment with tears on your face to get it removed because you dont accept my reality is also "narrowminded" so thank you le "SIR" for proving my point, there's not enough fedora tipping lol
and @MADISON thank you that's how I see things and how things WILL turn out. Mobile media is getting so much money that's why it will go that way (ingame purchases, etc).
No.
It seems like a really boring mobile game like Candy Crush as Junkerde suggested.
"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
@Madison- Thank you, for making the most convincing point I have ever seen in my entire life.
@Junkrde- I see no tears, nor feel them, and as such, I believe that you should extend an outlook that I reported your post due to the use of master in such a way to degrade me to a level below you, when clearly we are on the same level of hypocricy. You are no one's master, and I highly doubt you ever will be. This is an internet disagreement.
Also, suggesting someone like myself to "strictly expect sunshine and flowers and people dancing with joy" is ludicrious in it's own right, given current projects I am working on. Also, I despise the very thought of "sunshine and flowers and people dancing with joy." My reality is grounded on what happens around me, and I've seen far worse than I would want to.
No point has been proven except for the fact we are both one-sided idiots who need to find something better to do.
Not sure if you're trying to insult me, or are just unable to type a polite sentence...
funny because that's the first thing i thought of you when you called me out from nowhere
@Junkerde- Touché.
@MaggleShackle- Good question.
