Possible Godzilla Popularity Growth?

As Godzilla fans we have dedicated our attention on pure excitement for the reboot film (drawing designs in our head, foreshadowing the movie, getting our Godzilla hype up by rewatching movies, etc.), and those that aren't are busy bitching at Legendary to release the trailer. But I think we haven't focused enough on what this film's success could mean for our giant, atomic monster. Believe it or not, as crappy as the 1998 American made film was, it did manage to reel in new G-fans to look up Godzilla and get into the franchise (one of them being myself). I'd like to believe that if it weren't for the movie's awful critic scores, causing the movie's box office to decline after opening weekend, Godzilla's popularity would've increased even further than it did. So now it's 2013 and we've got what sounds like not only a good Godzilla movie, but just an overall great movie. Top that off with the already planned merchandise for the movie and we could be talking a huge growth of Godzilla lovers in the community. The success of this franchise could mean big things for the King to come. What do you guys think? Could this movie's box office and ratings success lead to Godzilla becoming more popular? And if so, what projects and ideas would you like to see come from it? I personally wanna see an animated series but let's not count our luck just yet.

A movie is only going to be as popular as the marketing makes it...sure there will be a small resurgence amongst us Godzilla fans,...but for most people , not at all,...i'm sure most young people will think that the name Godzilla is a rip off of Bridezilla....think about that,....but, with no marketing, most young people won't care....minimal box office take at best here in the states.

I'm also kind of in the group of people that think this will be a miss for Legendary and that it'll be mostly current fans who go see the movies as it is mostly only genre fans who went to see Pacific Rim. And with Pacific Rim coming out and underperforming this means unfortunately it will also hurt Godzilla 2014 even if the team super markets the film. Because people will just think oh... another Pacific Rim even though Godzilla was a predecessor.
